Student Well-Being and Counseling
Adolescence is a formative stage marked by academic demands, identity development, and increasing independence. At Xiugang, student well-being is supported through a structured Guidance and Counseling program that ensures students are known, supported, and guided throughout their secondary years.
Counselors work collaboratively with students, families, and teachers. Support is proactive and developmental, with early identification of concerns and coordinated follow-up when needed. The goal is not only to respond to challenges, but to strengthen resilience and stability before issues escalate.
Well-Being in the Curriculum
Social and emotional development is intentionally embedded within the school program and aligned with Approaches to Learning competencies, particularly self-management, communication, and collaboration. Through advisory structures, guided discussions, and structured counseling lessons, students develop emotional regulation, empathy, responsible decision-making, and digital citizenship.
In addition to embedded learning, developmentally appropriate counseling courses are offered in junior and senior high school, addressing topics such as stress management, healthy relationships, and personal growth.
Counseling Support Services
Students have access to:
- Classroom-based guidance sessions
- Individual counseling
- Small-group support
- Emotional and psychological assessment
- Multidisciplinary consultation when appropriate

Consultation is also available for parents and teachers through scheduled meetings and ongoing communication. Workshops and seminars further strengthen home–school partnership around student development.
Through this coordinated approach, well-being is treated as foundational to academic success. Students are supported not only to meet expectations, but to do so with confidence, balance, and a strong sense of belonging.
