Performing and Visual Arts Program
At Xiugang, the Arts are embedded within the academic timetable and required for all students. Artistic training is structured, sustained, and performance-based. Through disciplined practice and public presentation, students develop technical skill, expressive clarity, collaboration, and confidence.
Music
Music is central to the program. Every student learns to play an instrument and progresses through structured instruction and rehearsal.
Orchestra, string ensembles, chamber groups, and contemporary bands prepare for formal concerts and national competitions. Rehearsal demands precision, listening, and collective accountability. Public performance requires composure and disciplined preparation.
Musical training develops focus, perseverance, and ensemble responsibility alongside artistic excellence.
Performing Arts
Drama and dance emphasize rehearsal-based growth and stage presence. Students refine technique, respond to feedback, and perform before live audiences. Productions are embedded in the school calendar, ensuring authentic performance opportunities.
Visual Arts
Visual Arts emphasizes sustained studio practice and creative inquiry. Students explore diverse media, refine technique, and present their work in campus exhibitions and formal art shows. Reflection and critique are integral to the process.
Holistic Development
Artistic formation strengthens cognitive development, emotional expression, and social collaboration when sustained over time (Winner et al., 2013). Within the Core Development Programs, the Arts cultivate confident communicators and thoughtful leaders who can express ideas with clarity and integrity.
