Core Programs

At Xiugang, selected programs are embedded across grade levels as part of every student’s required educational experience. These Core Development Programs are structured, progressive, and integral to graduation. They support holistic development by strengthening students cognitively, emotionally, socially, and physically alongside academic growth.

Through sustained training, performance, and shared challenge, students develop resilience, empathy, discipline, collaboration, and reflective judgment. These experiences intentionally cultivate the attributes defined in our graduate profile: Global Participants, Responsible Citizens, Effective Communicators, Active Achievers, and Thoughtful Leaders.

Swimming Program

Swimming is a required developmental pathway and an essential life skill. Students train year-round in a 25-meter indoor pool under ability-based grouping. Instruction is progressive and benchmarked, ensuring steady development of technique, endurance, and efficiency.

Clear performance standards guide advancement. Training emphasizes breath control, pacing, composure under pressure, and disciplined preparation. The program culminates in open-water participation within the Exploration and Challenge Series, where skill is applied in authentic conditions.

Performing and Visual Arts Program

Artistic training is embedded within the academic timetable and required for all students. Music, dance, and visual arts are structured components of the school’s developmental design.

Music forms a central pillar of the program. Every student learns to play an instrument and develops technical competence through sustained practice and guided instruction. Instrumental ensembles, including orchestra, string orchestra, and chamber groups, require coordinated rehearsal, attentive listening, and collective accountability. Public performances and national competitions establish clear standards and demand composure under pressure.

Dance and visual arts extend artistic formation through choreographed performance, studio practice, critique, and exhibition. Students refine technique, respond constructively to feedback, and present creative work with clarity and confidence.

Through structured artistic discipline, students develop expressive capacity, perseverance, and ensemble responsibility.
